How this guide works

The way this blog works is in steps from the first run after the install we will ready the system. Then when the system is ready then we can ready the software. Also I am expecting you to have a basic knowledge of Ubuntu as it is the operating system I will be working with.

The link below is a guide for beginners to learn Ubuntu. Once you have read it or you know Ubuntu well enough then proceed!

After you log in you will be presented with the desktop. (See picture.)

You will need to use Terminal ALOT throughout this guide.

We need to open Terminal (Ubuntu version of Command Prompt). See that sidebar on the left side of your screen? That is the Unity Taskbar. It contains the short-cuts to programs like the Windows Taskbar.

So what we need to do is press the windows key on your keyboard (The flag) or go to the icon at the very top of the taskbar.

This will open your Dashboard. This is where you can find all the software installed on your computer. Type "Terminal" without the quotes and click it. Otherwise the easier way is to press:

Ctrl + Alt + T to open terminal. Now we can proceed to update the system!
