This will allow you to install The Walking Dead on Ubuntu through Wine or PlayOnLinux. The game runs smoothly on LOW settings on a 1.1GHZ Celeron with HD 2000 graphics
With Wine I found it easier to install TWD on Windows and copy the installation folder onto a 4GB USB drive. Then pasting it to a folder of your choice. The PlayOnLinux method will use the setup option to install to a virtual drive.
METHOD 1:
WINE: With Wine installed you could just click the .exe from the flash drive but there are a few things to configure first. The best option is to paste the files anywhere.
Go to dash and type Wine. Click on Configure Wine and click Add Application. Navigate to where you saved TWD and add the .exe
In graphics, check the boxes:
-Allow the window manager to decorate the windows.
-Allow the window manager to control the window.
-Emulate a vitrual desktop (This stopped my game from crashing and having to force a hard reset of the PC)
METHOD 2:
PlayOnLinux: RootGamer makes it easy for you.
-Download: wget http://rootgamer.com/downloads/thewalkingdead.pol
-playonlinux-bash thewalkingdead.pol
For both, you may need a directx 9 file, so open Terminal from the dash
==================================
wget http://www.kegel.com/wine/winetricks
==================================
And then sh winetricks d3dx9
Now the game should be able to run :)
NOTES:
Having the game in full screen caused it to crash
Stuck on connecting sometimes
